Asia Argento is an Italian actor and filmmaker born into an extended household. She has pursued both professions herself. The Church was directed by Michele Soavi. Asia took up acting as a profession in 1994, and made two shorts, an episode of De Generazione. The following year, in 1996, Asia made a document on her father. Then, in 1998 was the year that Asia created a feature-length film about Abel Ferrara (AbelAsia), which was recognized with an award at the Rome Film Festival. Asia began her first feature film in 1999. It was Scarlet Diva. The film was a collaboration with Asia. the movie she also acted as the lead actress and also directed the script. In May of 2000, the film was screened across the globe. It was the winner of a special award at Brooklyn's Williamsburg film festival.
